VICE PRESIDENT – PRICING ACTUARY – P&C – BERMUDA – ONLY 6% TAX  SUPERB EXPAT PACKAGE

About this opportunity

Our client is a global provider of reinsurance solutions for property, marine and energy, casualty, financial and other specialty lines of business.

The VP, Pricing Actuary will coordinate and provide actuarial pricing analyses to support the Bermuda based underwriting teams. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Bermuda Pricing Team

  • Coordinate and develop team resources to meet current and anticipated business objectives
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and support to direct reports with the support of the Learning and Talent Development team

Actuarial Pricing

  • Perform and coordinate actuarial pricing in order to streamline renewal pricing and increase the capacity for new business
  • Ensure account pricing is completed in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Evaluate and develop new and ongoing business opportunities across property, marine, specialty and financial reinsurance segments
  • Ensure qualifying accounts are submitted for review and provide peer review for other team members

Pricing Models

  • Maintain an up-to-date view of industry developments to ensure actuarial pricing is applying best in class methodologies and reflects business and legal developments
  • Identify and investigate emerging trends, opportunities and issues in order to improve our client’s profitability and portfolio steering
  • Support the building, enhancement and maintenance of proprietary models and reporting tools to support pricing and business selection

Portfolio Oversight

  • Work in conjunction with the Risk Management team, to capture and maintain company exposures and provide parameterisations for regulatory and capital modelling requirements
  • Assist in identifying new classes of business through profitability studies
  • Support portfolio performance management through business planning and portfolio analytics
  • Assist the Reserving team to validate and improve assumptions
  • Perform Retro optimisation, assist in identifying needs and evaluate proposals

Ideal Candidate Experience and Qualifications

  • FCAS designation or equivalent with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial or quantitative field
  • A minimum of 7 years’ reinsurance pricing experience with heavy emphasis on property, marine and specialty classes of business
  • Excellent analytical with proven experience in creating, implementing and applying statistical and stochastic models
  • Strong sense of attention to detail are essential
  • Proficiency in Excel and SQL Server. Python or R coding skills strongly preferred
  • Proven organizational and timekeeping skills, ability to manage workflow efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills i.e. a thorough command of the English language including excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • The ability to deal effectively and courteously with clients and colleagues, and to exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters
  • Must be able to work outside of normal office hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays if necessary
