SENIOR ACTUARIAL ASSOCIATE – ACTUARIAL RISK MODELLING – LOCATION EITHER BERMUDA (ONLY 6% TAX) OR TORONTO, CANADA
About this opportunity
A leading and multi-national long-term insurer offering reinsurance on fixed-rate annuity contracts, seeks a dynamic and proactive individual to join their actuarial team focusing on the performance/re- underwriting of our strategic transactions, ALM and regulatory reporting
Responsibilities entail managing and reporting on the organisations in-force block of annuity business, and this can be expected to include:
• Quarterly re-underwriting of transactions in our strategic reinsurance sidecar ACRA
• Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet reporting
• Providing support to new business transactions
• Assisting with quarterly US GAAP and US Statutory Reporting as needed
• Development and maintenance of liability and asset models
• Communication of results to senior management and investors
• Documentation and build out of necessary controls
Ideal Candidate Experience and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or any quantitative field
• Successful completion of 3 actuarial exams with a strong desire and willingness to work towards the Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries, Associate of Society of Actuaries preferred
• 3+ years’ experience working in the Life insurance industry
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage several projects is a must
• Demonstrated desire to take initiative and run with projects
• Experience with any of pricing, asset-liability management, Embedded Value reporting or principal based reserving
• Experience with US Statutory/NAIC reserving
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and any actuarial valuation software
• Comfortable working in a flat structured organization and interacting with executive management/investors is essential
• Ability to view ‘big picture’, understand broad corporate impacts, and focus on company objectives
• Excellent oral and written English language skills
