Assistant Vice President, Business Development

In this role you will be representing PartnerRe Canada across the industry and lead the enhancement of its client offering across all lines of business. You will also be responsible for understanding clients’ risk and capital management needs, in addition to exploring financial/product solutions that can best help address such needs.

About you

You will be expected to use your technical skills to assist and help develop reinsurance solutions for the Canadian market, using a high level of empathy, strong listening skills and interest in dealing with people regularly.

You must be someone who can work within a team, but also enjoys a high degree of autonomy as regular travel to be expected.

 

In more detail your responsibilities will be to:

  • Help to achieve organizational business development goals by organizing and participating in select client visits and events and industry events
  • Help develop and execute client-specific strategies
  • Communicate customer’s needs, expectations and limitations to rest of Canadian team
  • Participate in all quote reviews and help with the final quote positioning with the client
  • Conduct primary research of clients and competitors
  • Serve on relevant committees as designated by the VP BD to maximize PartnerRe Canadian market presence, to raise its market awareness and to further build relationships with clients by focusing on important emerging issues
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Experience/Skills:

  • A qualified Actuary (FSA) with at least 10 years of Life or Health (re-)insurance experience
  • Bilingual - excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French
  • A knowledge of mortality and/or morbidity risks, distribution and product structures
  • Working knowledge of emerging regulations such as LICAT and IFRS 17
  • Experience in the AXIS actuarial projection system is an asset
