Pension Actuarial Consultant

Position Summary

 

Are you looking for an opportunity to utilize and further develop your skills in the actuarial field and pension industry?  We have a challenging position available offering opportunity and growth with our pension team!  Our firm is a boutique actuarial and consulting company specializing in pension plans for corporations, individuals and associations.  We are seeking a motivated, diligent individual with entrepreneurial and leadership aspirations to join our pension team as a Pension Actuarial Consultant.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

As a member of our team your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Prepare various Individual Pension Plan valuation reports and co-ordinate filings with regulators
  • Prepare various corporate valuation reports and co-ordinate filings with regulators (for funding and also for accounting purposes under CPA, FAS or IAS standards) 
  • Prepare plan documentation and amendments in accordance with regulatory requirements, and co-ordinate filings with regulators
  • Assist with development of systems to automate data collection, valuation workbooks (Excel) and mergers with valuation reports (Word)
  • Create and modify pension calculation formulas and provide pension administration support as required
  • Assist with the development and automation of client/advisor/prospects contacts lists (Outlook or other software)
  • Assist with client servicing and new business proposals, as directed, from time to time (including new IPP set-ups, new corporate plan set-up, etc.)
  • Assist with marketing initiatives and communication material, including company newsletters
  • Participate in conference calls and meetings with clients and advisors as required
  • Assist with general office management, mailing, filing, answering phone calls when required

 

Qualifications and Required Experience

 

  • University degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related fields
  • Candidate will have obtained the ASA designation or close with the goal to be becoming an FCIA
  • 3 - 8 years of work experience in the pension industry, preferable
  • Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Good oral and written communication skills with a client focus
