Position Summary: Reporting to the Vice President & Actuary, Strategic Initiatives, the incumbent will lead the modelling and analysis to support proportional and non-proportional reinsurance programs for both individual and group life products as well as longevity (pension risk transfer) risk solutions.
Core Responsibilities:
RMA is a multi-functional dynamic company, so you will be expected to be flexible in your role; however, the core responsibilities are as follows:
- Develop pricing for new business and renewal accounts; present experience analysis findings, pricing methodology, economic outlook/profitability, and key risks to reinsurer partners.
- Model liability cashflows, reserves, and capital requirements to support pension risk transfer deals using Moody’s Analytics AXIS; perform stochastic analysis.
- Develop and maintain existing relationships with brokers, carriers, and reinsurers; correspond to ad-hoc requests in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the administration area to establish business processes to reconcile data and monitor experience.
- Build a robust framework for consistent performance measurement and reporting of new lines of business.
- Some travel for industry conferences and client meetings required, primarily in Canada and USA.
- Provide support to develop presentation material and participate in client presentations and audits as required.
- Research new expansion opportunities and work closely with management to support the execution of the overall business strategy.
- Provide analytical support on new initiatives and special projects.
What You Bring to the Role:
- In-depth knowledge of group benefits products and pension plans
- Broad understanding of reinsurance concepts/structures
- Strong analytical and communication skills to deliver written/verbal presentations to various stakeholders with data-driven recommendations
- High proficiency in Excel and Moody’s Analytics AXIS; coding and database knowledge with R/Python/Access would be an asset
- ASA or FSA with (re)insurance and/or consulting experience is preferred
- Self-starter and a strong individual contributor who thrives in a dynamic environment with challenges that require outside-of-the-box thinking.
