Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $80,000- $150,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

What’s happening at Wawanesa


It’s an exciting time as we grow our P&C Actuarial Personal Pricing teams. We are hiring for a few areas, including Regulated Auto Pricing, Risk Sharing Pool & Underwriting Fraud Prevention, and Personal Property.

 

Levels/titles we are hiring include:


Senior Actuarial Analyst,  Actuarial Consultant, and Senior Actuarial Consultant

 

What you will do:

  • Research, extract, manipulate, and test the value of complex data from relevant sources.
  • Identify relationships, problems/issues, and assess data quality.
  • Anticipate obstacles, raise them in advance, and provide solutions/alternatives.
  • Create opportunities to improve pricing strategies that are actuarially justified.
  • Respectfully challenge established assumptions to lead to better pricing decisions.
  • Balance the needs of multiple stakeholders when recommending pricing actions.
  • Communicate findings effectively to a variety of audiences through clear written language, supplemented with useful graphs and data, and/or in oral form.
  • Build, earn, and maintain trust with a wide group of great people.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related discipline
  • Minimum 2+ years of actuarial experience. Canadian P&C insurance experience appreciated.
  • Currently pursuing ACAS or FCAS designation. P&C experience from FCIA path also welcome.
  • Programming experience is appreciated. Especially experience in R, Emblem, Radar, GIS Mapping software, Python.
