Every summer, Swiss Re offers a number of rising seniors the opportunity to join our interns@swissre program running from May through August. We target students that have a strong academic record and a desire to work in the (re)insurance industry. This is an opportunity to give bright and highly motivated students a hands-on experience with real global issues and the opportunity to launch your career at Swiss Re.

About the Team

We are a small team of insurance professionals, who work closely with other functional teams within Swiss Re, to enhance the value of the L&H inforce business.

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, goal driven actuarial or data science student to support our Senior Actuaries in the Life & Health division.  In this role, you will be supporting the Inforce Management team with inforce transactions, recaptures and other analytical work.You will support the work of our actuaries in the Life & Health Inforce Management area in activities such as:

  • Designing inforce transactions
  • Identifying opportunities to optimize our existing inforce portfolio
  • Evaluating the inforce insurance business using US GAAP and Economic Value
  • Assessing and responding to client requests
  •  Building our capacity to analyze our portfolio using tools such as GGY AXIS and SQL

About You

As an Actuarial Coop Student, your work will have a big impact on supporting the Life and Health Actuarial Team.  You succeed at what you do because:

Education and Technical Skills

  •    Pursuing a Bachelors' degree from a University in the fields Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Risk Management, or a    related field
  •   Strong computer skills (MS Office, Excel, VBA) are definite assets
  •  Strong programing and database skills, particularly in SQL, are preferred
  •  Experience using GGY AXIS software is an asset
  • Completion of 2 or more actuarial exams is preferred

  • Highly collaborative, ability to keep appropriate individuals informed and actively demonstrate team work
  • Excellent listening and communication skills and the ability to foster strong working relationships.
